Honeycomb paper wrap: its other names around the world
The same die-cut kraft wrap is sold under dozens of names. If you buy it as hex wrap, honeycomb packing paper, papel nido de abeja, papel panal or Wabenpapier, this is the product we make.
Buyers often ask us whether we make "the same thing" as a product they already buy under another name. Most of the time we do. Honeycomb paper wrap is one material: kraft paper with rows of slits that open into a honeycomb mesh when you pull it. Different countries, distributors and brands simply call it different things.
We call it honeycomb paper wrap, because the bare words "honeycomb paper" also mean party decorations and rigid honeycomb board.

Names in Spanish, country by country
Spanish buyers use two families of names. Spain says "nido de abeja" (bee's nest). Most of Latin America says "panal" (honeycomb).

In Spanish, "cartón nido de abeja" and "cartón panal" mean the rigid board, not the wrap. "Papel burbuja" usually means bubble-type paper, although a few sellers use it loosely for honeycomb wrap too.

A tip if you search in German, Chinese, Korean or Spanish: the plain word often means something else as well. "Wabenpapier" alone brings up craft paper, "蜂窝纸" mostly means honeycomb board, and "cartón nido de abeja" is board too. Add the word for packaging, cushioning or roll to find the wrap.

These names are sometimes used for honeycomb paper wrap, but they also mean other things. Search with them if you like, but check the product photo before you order.

What honeycomb paper wrap is not
- Honeycomb board, honeycomb panels and honeycomb pallets. These are rigid sheets of paper cells glued between liners, used for pallet dividers, doors and furniture. We do not make them.
- Honeycomb paper decorations: the tissue balls and fans sold for parties.
- Paper bubble wrap: paper formed into raised air pockets. Jagannath Polymers makes it as a separate product.
- Honeycomb sleeves for bottles: a different format of the same idea, sold ready-made as tubes.
Which name should you use on a purchase order?
Use whichever name your customers know, but never order by name alone. A name tells you the family, not the product. Write down the flat width, the paper grade in GSM, the flat length, the core and the colour. Questions buyers ask
Is hex wrap the same as honeycomb paper wrap?
Yes. Hex wrap is the common name in Australia, and it is the same die-cut kraft paper that opens into hexagonal cells. Check the width, the paper grade and whether the length is quoted flat or expanded, because those vary between sellers more than the names do.
Is Hexcel wrap a different product?
In the UK, many distributors use "Hexcel wrap" for honeycomb paper wrap in general. HexcelWrap® is also a registered brand of HexcelPack LLC in the USA. The material is the same kind of slit kraft paper. We are not connected with HexcelPack, and we do not sell their product.
Is honeycomb paper wrap the same as paper bubble wrap?
No, although some sellers use the names loosely. Honeycomb wrap is slit paper that stretches into a mesh. Paper bubble wrap is paper formed into raised air pockets. Jagannath Polymers makes both, and they protect in different ways.
Can you match a roll I buy under a brand name?
Usually, yes. Send us the specification or a sample of the roll, with its width, GSM, flat length, core and roll diameter. We will make a sample to the same specification so you can test the two side by side. We will not copy another company's brand, logo or carton.
